CASTING FOR RECOVERY

The 2008 CFR event is September 12-14 at Indian Bear Lodge and they need river helpers. The ladies and their river helpers fish on Sunday morning (the 14th). COFF members (in photos above) can tell you how fun and rewarding it was. They'll also tell you that you should plan to spend pretty much the whole day. Attending the lunch after fishing is a big part of the fun. There is a volunteer application to fill out -- no big deal -- and I will send them to national with a personal recommendation. (Hey, if they let the last group in, surely they'll let YOU in!) :-) Contact Mary Lee Hahn for more information.

CFR is a national non-profit organization that supports an educational program for women who have or have had breast cancer. They provide an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a beautiful, natural setting and learn fly-fishing, "a sport for life." Just as importantly, we offer them an opportunity to meet and bond with new friends in a similar condition. But most importantly the opportunities to get away, have fun, and relax in a stress free environment. Our weekend retreats incorporate counseling, educational services and the sport of fly-fishing to promote mental and physical healing.

Founded in 1996, CFR has been offering free retreats across the country. CFR relies on local volunteers and organizations to support our community based retreats. Our goal is to provide 14 women the opportunity to attend these retreats. We will provide for all of their needs for this weekend. The cost for each of the 14 participants is $750.00. There is NO cost to the participants other than travel expenses. The experience is free to them.
