FLY PATTERN:    Barely There
Materials:
Body interior:  red Krystal Flash and Mirage strips
Body exterior:  Green and white Streamer Hair
Eyes:  Large 3D holographics
Hook:       Daiichi 1530 size 6, 1X short  2X strong
Thread:     Guedebrod GX2
Step 1: Begin this pattern with your thread at the back of the hook.  Tie in your Red Krystal Flash and then Mirage.  Put a bead of glue up the hook shank and then wrap the GX2 towards the front of the hook.  Leave yourself about 1/8" behind the eye.

Step 2: As the top of this fly is to be green, cut a small amount of the green Streamer Hair and tie it in by the butts with the tips hanging out over the front of the eye of the hook.   NOTE: The most common mistake in tying hairwing flies is people using too much hair.  This fly is called the 'Barely There' for a reason...

Step 3: On top of the green hair tie in a small clump of the white Streamer Hair.  Once you have secured that hair flip the fly and tie in a clump of white streamer hair to the bottom of the hook shank.  This bunch should be approximately the same amount as the total amount on the top of the hook shank.

Step 4: Work your thread through the hair as you finesse it back on to the hook, and whip finish the thread.  Use a dot of Zap a Gap and add an eye to one side of the hook.  Using a few drops on the other side add the second eye and squeeze the eyes together until the plastic fuses.

Step 5: The above steps will show the approximate shape of the fly head.  You finish this fly by dipping the fly past the eyes in a head cement.  That will fix the head shape and give the front of the fly great durability.
