FLY PATTERN: Deceiver Style Streamer |
This is an excellent
pattern for post spawn fall trout and summer bass. |
Materials: |
Body1: Pearl Krystal Chenille and gold Flashabou |
Body2: Yellow Bucktail |
Body3: Brown Bucktail |
Wing: Red Bucktail |
Flank: Grizzly Hackle |
Hook: sixe 4 6X long |
Thread: Brown 6/0 |
Step 1: |
Begin this
pattern by starting your head to create a head gap and wrap to the back. Once in the back tie in the Krystal
Chenille and wrap from the back to the head gap. Don't forget to add a good tight pul after
each 3-4 wraps on the chenile to help and cinch it to the hook shank. Then tie in a good chunk of gold Flashabou
strands. |

Step 2: |
Flip the
hook and tie in an underbelly of yellow bucktail. The underbelly should be of sufficient
size, but not too big; remember if you want more you can always tie in
another chunk. The hair should extend
about 1/3 the hook shank beyond the bend. |

Step 3: |
Back on top
tie in a bunch of brown bucktailas long as the yellow. Follow that up with a slightly shorter
bunch. |
Step 4: |
On top of
the brown tie in a small bunch of red bucktail to give it a little punch of
color. |

Step 5: |
To finish
off this pattern tie in a pair of grizzly hackle feathers on each side. Use the thread to build up and shape the
head of the fly and then whip finish.
I usually will also add some hard head cement to complete the head. |
