...It is the mission of the Central Ohio Fly Fishers club to promote and encourage the sport and art of fly-fishing by providing a social setting to allow its members to share information and experiences through educational programming and activities, to build and promote fellowship among its members and to encourage the conservation and preservation of our natural resources.

COFF meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month during the Fall, Winter (except for December), and Spring.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Barley's Smokehouse. As usual, dinner and drinks start up around 6:00 p.m. and the program will begin around 7:00. Ian and Charity Rutter will be speaking on Great Smoky Mountains National Park: Wild Trout Paradise.

Mark your calendar for March 8th -- The Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) event at the Gateway Film Center is taking shape, and we’re happy to inform you that the Central Ohio Fly Fishers have agreed to co-sponsor the event in conjunction with the event’s primary sponsor Mike Decoteau, and co-sponsors Trout Unlimited and Mad River Outfitters. There are some special guests coming in for the show and there will also be some fantastic raffle prizes. Order your tickets online or get them in person at Mad River Outfitters. Submit photos for a slideshow that will play on the screens in the theater lobby at the F3T pre-screening party which will begin at around 6:00 p.m. the night of the show. We know that you all love fly fishing. We also know that you probably have a few prized photos of yourself with that "fish of a lifetime" and we would like to see them. Whether it's a smallmouth bass from your secret local pond, a Louisiana redfish from that trip to the Gulf, or a bulging Labrador brook trout, send your photos to Mike Decoteau (mdecoteau@gmail.com). He will choose the best shots from the submissions to appear The submissions are already rolling in and Mike thought it would be wise to mention that if you could send your image in its original size, it would be helpful. Higher resolution images will transfer much better onto the big screen than smaller low-res images. He wants everything from that last wild Brookie to your Keys tarpon to look its best...

2012 Club Dues -- Just a reminder... since this is the start of the fiscal year, we'll begin the task of collecting dues for new and renewing members. Please come to the next meeting ready to pay $25 dues by cash or check, or mail your dues along with a membership form available here.

Casting For Recovery -- Casting for Recovery (CFR) provides a fly fishing retreat for women with breast cancer in the Ohio/Indiana Region. COFF has helped with their fundraising effort by coordinating contributions of over $1,000. More information and application forms.

CFR Raffle results -- Thank you to all of the COFF members who have supported the raffle of the pink CFR rod/reel to benefit Ohio Casting for Recovery. We raised over $1,000 for CFR with this raffle. The winner of the rod/reel was Lou Haynes (a BUFF member); the winner of the float tube was Jim Scowden (a COFF member); the winner of the beginner's rod/reel was Gloria Begley (one of the Ohio CFR planning team members).

The Mad River Beckons Me -- Read this article by Chris Navarre, a Wittenburg University student that recently experienced the thrill of fly fishing and catching his first trout.
